Hello everyone! As many of you know James and I have a lot of series to choose form on our IlliterateGaming channel. We know that for many of our viewers having so many different series being released it can be hard to catch the ones you really want to watch.
James and I have decided to take a different approach to video uploads. We want to start completing our series in preparation for Winter Break. We will start by wrapping up our Halo 4 series, along with our Sonic Adventure 2 Battle series. Don't worry though, The series I record while at school (Minecraft and Ragnarok Online) will remain on their semi-regular upload rate.
We realize that we may lose a few subscribers who joined for Super Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime, or Kingdom Hearts. But we have a lot of channel building to do, and completed series will really help that take off. If you subscribed to the channel for a certain game we definitely encourage you to check out our other playthroughs and maybe expand your gaming tastes a little.
As always thank you all for taking the time to read these blogs, and subscribing to our channel. Keep gaming!

September Check-in
Hey everyone, its been a while since the last post so it seems appropriate to post a little update. The channel is making slow and steady progress. Nearly 240 subs on the channel is a pretty nice number for us. Its been a bit rough seeing that number decline from time to time, and it seems like our promotional attempts have been netting us less subscribes and views. So we are currently adjusting for that and trying new, more subtle methods.
James and I both tend to agree that at this stage in YouTube an "organic" channel is a pipe-dream. A lot of the old youtubers (2-4 years+) Always say to let your channel grow organically, and it is understandable because that is their experience. The competition and saturation back in that time was conducive to natural growth so long as you were relevant in search results. The LP competition is so steep now you really need to do everything perfectly just to be relevant. It is a challenge and I am very grateful to have another mind to bounce ideas off of.
Not to be discouraged of course. We have tons of drive and tons of content. Plus new breakout content that has had tremendous success. As some of you may know I play an online game, Ragnarok Online, from time to time. I decided to do a speedrun of level 1-99 in 1 hour. After posting it to the forums it skyrocketed to its current 3.5k views, with 23,000 minutes watched. Livestreaming has been good to us, expect more in the future.
All of our LP content was pre-recorded as many of you know. James and I are approximately 700 miles away from each other when we are at school so doing live content daily is simply not feasible. But we want to have live conversation, so we have really been pushing livestreaming, following on Twitter, and following on Facebook. As always we are extremely grateful to those who keep up with the channel and support us by watching our videos. Comments on videos will almost always get a response from us, so keep up the conversation! Stay tuned for more.

Progress, Progress, Progress!
Hey everyone! So much has happened since the last Blog post. We hit our 100 Sub mark! That's something to be proud of. In just over a month, to see such huge growth its really amazing. And a special thanks goes out to everyone who is in that club. You guys can always say you have been with us since before 100 subs. You all hold a special place in IG history, and the Illiterate Gamer's hearts (or should I say Kingdom Hearts).
We have officially partnered with YouTube in order to take advantage of certain channel features. Scheduled uploads, custom thumbnails, better relevance, and of course livestreaming are all things that will help the channel become even more professional.
That said, if anyone has any thumbnail ideas for our series please feel free to submit them via email. (illiterategaming@gmail.com) and we'd be happy to consider them for our video series. We want our channel to be interactive, and we want our viewers to help build something great. You are awesome and keep being awesome!

If You Build It, They Will Come
Wow guys. Our channel is starting to feel really official now! We are writing this as we just hit the 30 video mark. Its amazing to look back and see that we started just about 1 month ago, and we already have a schedule, tons of content, quality channel features, and are starting a community. There are still many other things we want to do with our channel though! We want to get that channel video up and running. We want to get our subreddit flowing with more conversation. We want to get you guys tweeting ideas at us.
What we have is a solid foundation of what our channel will be. We just need people to share it with us. Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit; places we can connect with you. The more we share the more people can enjoy the nostalgia of an old favorite, or the wonder of exploring a new game. We can't wait until you guys suggest games for us. We want to play what you want to watch.
30 subs, 30 videos. We will take that gladly! Together our viewers have watched over 4,000 videos. And accumulated over 6 days of viewing hours. You guys are making this possible. So thank you!

New Channel Outlook!
Hey, fans! Its about time to post a little update for you all! A lot of things have been happening with the channel lately, so there's kind of a lot to cover. We've been recording a lot of content for you and have a ton of series in the works. Currently, we have Kingdom Hearts, Metroid Prime, Super Mario Sunshine, Minecraft, Pokemon Emerald, Black Ops Zombies, and of course Super Smash Bros Melee. And we also have a new schedule so everyone will be able to know when to expect videos of your favorite series.
Here's a look at our schedule:
Bonus content can be small playthroughs of indie games, old favorites, head to heads, or maybe even some real life videos. Both of us Illiterate Gamers have a "Let's Play" slot on the channel. This will allow each of us to connect to our viewers in our own; more personal way. Think of it as your way to talk to us one-on-one.
So that's it as far as a quick update. As always thank you a ton for your participation. Your likes on our videos, and subs on our channel help us so much. And of course, if you enjoy this kind of gameplay it will help you stay up to date on our videos! Thanks for reading! We'll see you next time!

Getting Into the Channel
Hello fans! Its been a while since the last post, but we wanted to give you all an update on how our channel is coming along. We want to keep the community in the loop as much as possible, and this is just one way we can connect to you.
First of all, we need to give credit where credit is due. A special thanks to all of you on reddit who have given our series a shot and supported us with your views. It really gives us a huge drive to continue. In all seriousness, you are all our founders and we owe a great deal of our success to you. So again, thanks to you and keep all those lovely subs and likes rolling in.
Second of all, we are excited to say that our uploads have been going very smoothly and we have some videos you should be seeing soon. I also want to take a moment to shamelessly plug Metroid Prime. I think the first episodes may have been a bit rocky for a lot of you, but we are absolutely loving the series now. James is improving each episode (albeit slightly) and I think they are generally more polished episodes. I know not many of you are Metroid fans, but think of it as a perfect opportunity to watch a game you wouldn't otherwise play.
Lastly, we are proud to announce that we have two more series in the works. These series will be individual, so it will be our chance to talk to the viewers 1 on 1. James is considering playing one of his favorite games; Advanced Wars. And Steven (myself) will be playing the creative sandbox game, Minecraft. It wouldn't be illiterate gaming if we didn't add our own little twist to it, so be sure to tune in and check them out!
Thank you all so much for your support! Keep those views coming guys! And subs make us extra happy. Check out all our social media too, our goal is to connect to YOU! We want to support our viewers as much as our viewers support us. Thank you for all your help, Illiterate Gaming truly, truly appreciates it.

We Have Launch!
Hey everyone! Illiterate Gaming has officially begun! We have uploaded our first couple videos and could not be more happy with what we have. Of course they are a bit rough around the edges because we don't exactly have perfect video editing software but we are extremely proud of what we have to show you viewers. The first video we uploaded was some 1v1 Super Smash Brothers: Melee. Which isn't technically capturing our illiteracy, but alongside SSBM we uploaded our very first Metroid Prime episode.
Honestly, it feels so good to have something to share with all of you viewers. And I'd like to take a moment to thank James for posting our SSBM video on reddit and earning us 300 views in just a few hours. Hopefully with this trend we can get a good following and maybe put on some livestreams for all the people who are helping us succeed. I know James and I can hardly wait to include all of our viewers in polls and contests to help get everyone involved with our growing channel.
We are looking forward to uploading more videos for your viewing pleasure, and your viewership has really motivated us to put out more content. The only thing we have to be careful of is flooding your subscriber feed. Thank you all so much. Thank you for your subscriptions, thank you for your likes, thank you for sharing. And thank you for all of your support!
